Retrospection
actually gives me a chance to just sit and self -introspect the time I had
been through while revisiting the lanes deep down my memory. It halted to a
year back while the wait for the college life was yet to start. So, it is the
journey of merely whole of a year.
Just couple of months back, after getting done
with my schooling with completion of boards, the next day I was waiting for the
results to fall in my side while giving entrance exams as part of backup plans.
Till then the future plan was framed to get into Delhi University and that too in a good
commerce college. It is actually the ill-effects of admission hype which
subconsciously goes for most commerce students in this way (i.e. scoring good
marks in Boards and then getting into top DU College else following ideal
BBA /MBA plan). Hence, following the footsteps with my friends even I found
myself applying in DU along with lakhs of applicants battling for 58,000 seats
or say less than half seats for general category. It is actually too irrelevant
to opt for college over the academic course to be studied.
So,
a year and 3 months later- I found myself studying BJ(MC) in a Media College .
If not the dream, it is
not even a nightmare like B.Com.
At
the time of filing random backup plans, I even filled for BJMC in GGSIPU along
with Law & BBA in Jamia. Had no idea where my life would be heading else
way. Let’s say, things fell into the right boxes and after scoring rank no. 415 in
the CET – I finally got into MBICEM (Madhu Bala Institute of Communication and
Electronic Media) and it didn't appeared to be the dream college in the first
place while visualizing the infrastructure part.
But, BJ(MC) was simply new to me in all ways other than listening from elder cousin once who said "Mass Comm mein kaafi scope hai, industry boom kar rahi hai". Well, he was defending his choice for opting for the unconventional course. But he was not my inspiration, actually I wasn't in a mood to do BBA. So, it was my happy tale where I got myself saved from the monotonous education stuff.
In these 15 months, I learnt enough from the course that I have enough privilege to give some guru-gyaan to the ignorant of this course. Here it goes;
- Universal Appeal: BJ (MC) is a course with universal appeal. All around the corner of the world, journalism comes with a power and formation of opinion leaders
- Learning with fun: After studying in the course, I found several interests in the form of film-making and Photography which could grow to a career building stage. See the image on your right. It is not the pose ofcourse but one of many dreams
- Integrated Course: This course has so much to offer in the form of overall integrated course. In the span of 3 years, the widen area it covers makes it stand apart from other courses
- Fame and Honor: Doing well in the course will promise you with adequate fame and honor you deserve. It is a house for creativity where everybody shapes it accordingly by nurturing their talent
- Adventure and Traveling: Being a journalist or film-maker, this course will give you adrenalin rush. Lucky people even get to travel the world around
- Personality builder: After learning so much about the industry, it gives a confidence and a personality everyone admires.
P.S; The guru-gyaan is not a work of fiction and based on real-life experiences. The reader must feel free to form opinions because it is served free of cost.
